Where the download button takes you
The button above opens the latest stable release on the official Magisk GitHub repository. Every release is published there first. Download the APK from the release assets and install it like any other app.
Never pay for Magisk. Any site charging for it, bundling it with installers, or demanding a survey before a download is a scam or worse. Fake and modified APKs exist, so always verify what you downloaded matches the official release.
Before you download
| Check | Details |
|---|---|
| Android version | Android 5.0 or newer. |
| Phone brands | Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, Motorola, Sony and many other devices with stock Android. |
| Bootloader | Must be unlocked. This usually wipes the phone, so back up everything first. |
| Stock boot image | You need the boot image for your exact firmware build. It must match the build currently installed on the phone. |
| Version | Install the latest stable. Canary builds carry new features and new bugs. |
| Cost | Free. Open source. No ads and no locked features. |
What you get in the download
The Magisk APK is both the app and the installer. The same app patches your boot image: feed it the stock boot file for your firmware, and it hands back a patched version ready to flash. If your phone already runs a custom recovery like TWRP, you can also rename the APK to .zip and flash it through recovery.

Download FAQ
Is Magisk free?
Yes. It is free and open source. If a website is charging you for it, you’re not on a website you should be typing payment details into.
Which version should I install?
The latest stable from the GitHub releases page. Canary builds carry new features and new bugs; leave those for the people filing the bug reports.
Do I need TWRP or a custom recovery?
No. The patch-and-fastboot route needs nothing but a computer and a cable. A custom recovery is still handy for backups and rescue scenarios, but it’s optional.
Will it void my warranty?
Unlocking the bootloader usually does, and this software requires that. The root modification itself is reversible, but some flags, Samsung’s Knox in particular, are one-way. Check your device before proceeding.
